I say YES to my very first tattoo

Me and Kersti and the firsts

So here is a little dept I had from last years "Year of the YES" promise. I got my very first tattoo. Que the balloons and clapping. I myself am really happy about it but as I predicted the tattoo topic is still sort of a hot topic with some people. Especially the ones who have strong opinions against it.
Of course everyone can have their own opinion about getting tattoos that is part of life but I just don`t get why criticize the people who like them and want to have them. Especially AFTER somebody has had one. You can`t actually reverse it, you know (okay so you can but it is difficult :D). Not that somebody`s opinion really gets to me in this case but it just got me thinking. Comments like "what do you think about your tattooed skin when you are 85?" - I mean WHO THE F*** CARES how my skin looks like when I am 85. I hope I have a tattooed 90 year old husband who thinks I am just as awesome as before. :D Or "you ruined your skin"- I mean, come on people, get a life, life is short. YOLO!
The other topic is the fact that to some people a tattoo has to mean a lot of things to the person who has it. I myself don`t really think that has to be the case. Mine has sort of a little meaning to me but most of the time I just look at it and the word is utterly positive. It only makes me smile. It only reminds me to enjoy life more. It is simple yet meaningful and I love it.
It probably won`t be my last one, because it is really true what they say about tattoos being an addiction. I still want to say that a tattoo does not change a person and his/hers personality so be more tolerant and accept the people for who they are and respect their decisions and enjoy! :)

Have you seen...

... the show "Girls"? I think it`s the most innovative and raw new show that`s out there. It focuses on 4 girls and their different lifestyles and stories and it`s HBO so it is not PG rated which gives it a whole new meaning. I love the show, it really is refreshing in my opinion. If it sounds interesting to you now you should definitely check it out. ;)

Kids or no kids that is the question

I happened to see a talk show where the subject was "Career women who don`t yet have kids" or something like that. It sort of made me think about these things. The women in the show were happy with their choice of not having kids yet they didn`t say they never wanted them which shows that they do think about it but not just yet. They were mostly in their thirties or early forties. I am still only 26 but thinking about it my mom had 2 kids already at my age and some people are still under the influence that women have to have children before they are 30. I don`t agree with those people whatsoever.
Firstly nobody HAS to do anything they don`t want to these days and those old school point of views are definitely old. I think these days it is not the norm to have 2 kids and a husband. As those women were passionately speaking about their careers I started to think that I too love my job and am not thinking about having kids yet. Okay true, I haven`t really found the one person missing in this equation and that is the baby daddy but I think when you find somebody you love you don`t necessarily need kids right away. Take the years to enjoy each others company and travel and enjoy life all together. Though that is where the age issue comes in. When is it too late to have kids. An old school man in that show said that girls should have children by the age of 22. In which case my train has left the station. I think I was a total child at the age of 22 and didn`t even dream about having kids but I remember when I was like 18 or so I thought that by the age of 30 I would totally have at least one child :D Being 26 now I think I will have to eat my words because I really don`t see kids in the near future for me and I am totally okay with that. I have a baby brother who is 6 years old so I sort of "have a kid" already :D
The thing is I actually admire the young mothers under 30 who have gotten their shit together so to speak. Who have worked out their lives and are happy about their decision and who are doing great raising their children with the ones they love or alone. I have friends who have kids and are doing just fine. I just think it is also okay to not want kids and I think the society should also accept the choice of those who want to work or do other stuff instead. Sometimes I feel the pressure on women having children is so big that some women almost purposely rebel against it. I luckily don`t have those kinds of parents or friends who pressure me but then again I don´t really have a relationship either and it is sort of hard to get pregnant on your own. :D
So what do you think of the matter? What is the right time to have children? Is it still related to age these days or is it more about the status of life you`re in at the time?

Who run the world- GIRLS!

Sister Session – ONLINE PREMIERE! from Simple Session on Vimeo.

A few days back this short movie came online. It`s about the Sister Session competition that took place at last years Simple Session. I think it is really inspirational and a good example of working hard and doing your best to succeed. I remember when they announced that there will be a girls competition at Simple Session, I was one of the skeptics at first thinking what will this bring to the competition. I have been kinda involved with the simple session franchise for almost 10 years. Helped organize the event for 7 years and now have been a big supporter afterwards. I have seen all the amazing tricks over the years. How in the beginning one single backflip was and amazing thing to witness to now seeing double frontflips. This is where sister session sort of took me back in time but surely not in a bad way. It was so inspirational to see how these girls have practiced to be at the same course as the boys. And to see the first female to pull of a backflip at a bmx competition pretty much brought a tear to my eye. I remember thinking that this is freaking amazing that girls can do this too. The tears were back watching this short movie. I strongly recommend watching this movie which reminds us that you can do anything you want if you believe in yourself and you work hard for it. Enjoy! Simple Session is coming back this year 16-17th of March in Tallinn, Estonia. Check out their website, facebook page, instagram and twitter! Kris

Just being me.

I have started and stopped this blog post 3 times. Shows that I have a lot to say but not a lot of words coming out of me. I have been awful in blogging lately but I have some good reasons. This January has been quite a challenge. And that is putting it mildly. Who knew all the life changing stuff would be happening so early on this year. :D Jokes aside I have learned a lot about myself this January and not to bore you with all the details I think I can put my new knowledge to use and hope that it will only go up from here on. I have learned that in the end you just have to be yourself and trust your instincts and you have to trust what is best for you. You have to surround yourself with positive energy and positive people and even if life isn`t all hearts and flowers all the time it also isn´t about worrying all the time. I worry a lot and I should stop that. Let`s just say I should take life easier sometimes.
January is almost over and I actually couldn`t be happier. I don`t remember a month that intense in a while. But I am still hopeful that February is gonna be a lot more fun. Fingers crossed :)

Ain`t nobody`s business.

It was an intense weekend. Got to spend quality time with my friends who once again proved that they are simply awesome and I don`t really know what I would do without them. :)
On a deeper note this weekend brought a bit of clarity into my life. I`ve been struggling with some insecurities lately due to the fact that I`ve gotten burned a bit being too brave (if there is such a thing). So I`ve been sort of emotional lately. This weekend the combination of alcohol and some stuff that had been going on sent me over the edge and I crumbled. Hadn`t cried for a while now (which is totally not like me :D) and it all sort of came out of me. But I didn`t feel like it was a bad thing because after I finally let my demons go I could see some stuff more clearly. Yes, this sounds a lot like some new age healing bullshit but in my case it really was true. I realized once again that as long as there are different people, there are different personalities. You can`t change someone just for the sake of wanting to like them more. That is not how it works. And you can´t let other people`s stuff get to you that easily. I have to admit that some stuff in my life has changed and in the end I wasn`t really responsible for it myself so why blame myself for it. I learned that I have to accept my friends just like they are and there are people in the world that don`t like you and that is totally fine because it would be boring otherwise. :p Some friendships are really important to me and I have to hope that they still will be in good times and bad. I hope my friends can accept me for who I am even if that means I get a meltdown every now and then and they have to listen me wining about it :D
So here`s to sort of a new start in accepting people for who they are and also accepting the situations that you can`t control and dealing with them gracefully. :) Appreciate the ones that mean the most to you and don`t let random people dictate your good life.

Have you heard...

...about the Punch Brothers. They are a group from Brooklyn, NY. I have heard them before but had forgotten all about them until I saw their performance on "Conan" yesterday. I think they are really awesome and I am totally hooked again. Check out their music on soundcloud or youtube ;)

I just wanna say THANK YOU!

It`s not even my birthday... yet ;)

My last day as a 25-year old. Feels old. And getting older. Don`t like it at all. :D But if there is one thing besides weather you can`t change it`s the fact we all get older. I`m thinking age is just a number because I don`t feel like 26 , definitely don`t act like one so I should be good for the upcoming year, don´t you think?! :D This year I didn`t want to celebrate my birthday but my friends had other plans so turns out I will be celebrating for the next 2 days starting this evening with bowling. Fun! I`ll keep you posted how the weekend went.Wish me luck and let`s go! ;)

2012 review in music and movies and books

I thought it might be a fun idea to make a little list of my 2012 favorites in music and movies. And also a book series recommendation. Maybe you will find something you like ;) So here we go.

MUSIC

Best international albums
6.Michael Kiwanuka "Home Again"
5.Christina Aguilera "Lotus"
4.Alicia Keys "Girl on Fire"
3.Ellie Goulding "Halycon"
2.Rihanna "Unapologetic"
1. Frank Ocean "Channel Orange"- https://soundcloud.com/frank-ocean
It was a great year in international music. A lot of good albums. That`s why I couldn`t just do a top 3. :D Frank Ocean was the surprise treasure of the year. The album is SO good from beginning to end. I seriously recommend it to anybody who appreciates good music at its best.

Best estonian albums
3.Chalice "Lärmakas naabrimees"
2.Põhja-Tallinn "Per aspera ad astra"
1.Sander Mölder "Matches EP" - https://soundcloud.com/sander
Estonias music scene is blossoming and it`s a pleasure to watch. There are a lot of good albums out there already and these are my 3 favorites that came out this year. I also wanted to put Planeet  in this list but I haven`t gotten the chance to listen to their album yet. Sander Mölder is an amazing estonian dj who released his EP album this april. His sound is really innovative and he also remixes good tunes.

MOVIES
5.Twilight "Breaking Dawn part II" (so glad the saga is over :D)
4. 21 Jump Street
3. Step up 4
2. Skyfall
1. The Intouchables  - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34WIbmXkewU
I saw my number one movie on the second to last day of 2012 but I wanted to see it since it came out. It is simply the best movie I`ve seen maybe ever. If you haven`t seen it, it`s a must. They sell dvd-s in every bookstore and music store so go get it and see this movie! :D

BOOKS
1.-3. Fifty Shades of Grey series
-Fifty Shades of Grey
-Fifty Shades Darker
-Fifty Shades Freed

I`ve read all these books 4 times by now. I think that says it all. :D

What are your favourites? Let me know ;)

The end of the yes-year and the beginning of 2013!

Last night we sent away 2012 and welcomed the new year. This also means it`s the official end to the year of the yes. It has been pretty awesome but I must say I didn`t complete all of my goals this year. Which in this case means I still have good things happening in 2013. If there is one thing I learned from this year it`s that you can`t be afraid of trying new things and I will definitely keep on doing that. I will also keep my blog but this time around it will become just a simple blog where I will post amazing stuff about my life :D I hope you will keep on reading it because I think the year of the yes kinda changed my outlook on life in a good way and exciting times are ahead. Last year my new years resolution was to say yes a lot more, this year my resolution is to ENJOY and make it happen, zookie zookie! :D
